Self-Determination in African Union’s “Golden Jubilee” headquarters-of-the-african-union-addis-ababa-ethiopiaAfrica, the richest continent, is emerging from more than thousands years of invasions, occupations, slavery, distress… We Africans endured and appreciated struggles, rebellions, resistances with self determination, leading to victories, freedom, independence and sovereignty wherever and whenever it was possible. Then we witnessed the creation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU), on May 25th 1963, a divine gift, which has been truly instrumental in term of liberation and freedom of our people. Amongst many great African leaders assembled, two Heads of State, President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah of Ghana and Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia stood out in shaping the future of Africa. They and others inspired us to invest and commit ourselves to a just and noble cause: the Unity of our continent at all levels. The role of the now African Union in its 50th year is of more importance than ever, in its duty to rally and educate African peoples and their leaders at home and abroad. We are pleased to see great economic improvements and future plans to maximize inter-Africa trade and trade between African countries and the Diaspora. It is sane to realize that within the African Union, African Unity must prevail. This includes putting into effect the free movement of all African peoples within Africa’s borders; the return of African valuable treasurers and righteous forces, within a society based on democratic principles and ideals. Do Spanish, French, Italian passport holders need a visa to travel within the European Union? Let’s do it together: “Africa for the Africans at home and abroad!” Long live the African Union! Perfect Peace, Love and Unity.  Ras D. Levi/ Marc JB Venus, International Chaplain, The Ethiopian World Federation Inc. Click here to Read about the History of the O.A.U……….]]>
